Botanical art workshop

Unleash your inner botanical artist and learn to capture the beauty, form, and character of plants and flowers in this tutor-led workshop suitable for beginners and improvers.

Create your own botanical artworks inspired by the beautiful Walled Garden and key botanical artists throughout history, from early natural history illustration through the Golden Age of botanical art to contemporary practice.

Learn observational and expressive drawing and painting techniques with contemporary artist and experienced tutor Sophia Shuvalova. Working from life in the garden, you will explore both traditional and contemporary approaches to botanical art, developing your use of colour, line and tone.

All materials are provided, including paper, pencils, gouache and watercolours.

This is a an ongoing monthly class.

Cost is £17 per class which includes a suggested £5 donation to The Walled Garden.

These designs can be created by hand or machine, or a combination of both. You will learn how to make a wall hanging or quilt from start to finish showcasing different techniques. New projects will be added during the year.

Driven by those attending, suggested subjects include natural beauty, menopause and make-up.

A suggested donation of £1 per child applies. Pre-booking is required, and an accompanying adult must stay on site but is welcome to use our garden and cafe whilst children get creative.. Refreshments available for purchase in our shop and cafe.

Mindful photography

Enjoy the beautiful surroundings at The Walled Garden and take time to appreciate it in detail.

Mindful photography is about slowing down and looking at things with fresh eyes and perspectives.

Give yourself time to really be present, and realise how much you don’t normally notice.

Using tried and tested methods, this is a chance to calm your mind, look closely and find the awe in the ordinary.

It’s creative and enjoyable.

It can be a lovely activity to share the wonder and detail of nature with your children, and use as an ongoing personal wellbeing tool for yourself.

No technical skills, just a camera phone is needed.

This is suitable for any age and ability. No technical skills needed, just a camera phone.

Al-fresco Summer Cheese & Wine Workshop

Love Cheese? Love Wine? Love Summer? Join us at our al-fresco cheese and wine pairing evening and learn how to pair a range of cheeses with a delicious selection of lighter, fresher wines; perfect for outdoor entertaining.

Join us a few minutes before the published start time and enjoy a gentle stroll around the garden with a complimentary taste of fizz.

We will be exploring a range of delicious cheeses, including cheeses made in Norfolk, and matching them with some classic wines from around the world. We will also talk about food and wine matching more generally and you will pick up some really good tips to take away and practice at home.

During the evening you’ll enjoy 6 different cheese and wine combinations, including local Norfolk Cheeses & wines and at least three pairings.

Please note this is an outdoor event. The terrace area will be covered in the event of light drizzle. However if the weather looks unfavourable we reserve the right to cancel and will refund all guests in full. The terrace is sheltered but if it looks like it might get chilly, bring a jumper as it is not heated.

Introduction to Indian Wood Block Printing

Learn how to use fair trade Indian wood blocks in the beautiful setting of The Walled Garden. This workshop is for people new to the craft of wood block printing or for those looking to enhance their experience. You will be supported at each step of the way by Eleanor, the owner of Creative Planet, who is an Indian Block Print Company certified trainer.

We start the afternoon practising our printing technique on paper and fabric using a variety of designs and paint colours. When you are happy with your choices, you can then use hand carved Indian wood blocks to print cards and a fabric tote bag. - and take your items home with you

A £10 donation to The Walled Garden and all workshop materials are included in the price.

This workshop is suitable for for adults and young people aged 12 and over.

Indian Wood Block Printing studio time

This is an open session for you to choose what you would like to block print. Suitable for beginners and experienced printers, after booking you will be contacted to choose from a range of blocks, paint colours and fabric pieces to use during the morning.

Your ticket price includes one small and one large fabric piece. Additional fabric items may be purchased for a small cost.

You will be supported at every stage of the process by Eleanor, a trained wood block printer.

This workshop is suitable for adults and young people aged 12 and over.

Community Bike Shed

Bring it down to our Community Bike Shed at The Walled Garden - we have volunteers ready to do maintenance checks, servicing, fix minor repairs and help get you road worthy! Learn how to oil a chain, fix a puncture and other essential jobs!

This is a completely free service for all. Donations are of course very welcome for parts needed.

Bushcraft club
